Night Owl - Collaborative Concept and Animatic for Sesame Workshop
Acted as Project Coordinator and Animatic Editor for “Night Owl", a piece developed as part of SCADPro's collaboration with Sesame Workshop to assist in the development of concepts, artwork, and designs for potential original short videos. The primary contributors to the project were Jenny Boccardi, Huda Abdul-Razzak, Umaimah Damakka, Tien Do, and Lia Kim. Faith Dickey and Salve Black contributed additional storyboard parts.
Responsibilities included project organization through AirTable and Google Drive, leading Zoom meetings and preparing the team for presentation formatting, and artistic contributions.
The original ideation for Night Owl came from Jenny Boccardi, who formulated a concept about a baby owl and his grandpa in their forest home. Following the advice given by Sesame Workshop and SCAD professors, we developed the idea to focus on the value of intergenerational relationships.
Final Presentation:
This presentation is reflective of a team’s worth of collaborative work. However, I primarily contributed to Ollie’s expression sheet.
We developed the animatic by screen-sharing Toon Boom’s Storyboard Pro and the script dialogue side by side, all remotely over Zoom. Like the contents of the presentation, the storyboards were a collective effort of the whole team. I organized each scene in a master file, timed out, and edited all of the sound included in the animatic. I also tied down some of the rough drawings, as well as some original boards.
